2025 Kenai River Classic
Join us in celebrating one of Alaska’s most iconic events

August 5 & 6, 2026

Calling all anglers ages 11–14! Join us for two exciting days learning about river ecology, salmon life cycles, and boat safety—plus a full day of riverboat fishing and shore-side fun! Our Classroom Day is August 5 in Anchorage and our River Day is August 6 in Soldotna.

Thank you for your interest in the 2026 Kenai River Jr. Classic. Registration opens April 17, 2026.

August 5 – Classroom Day, King Tech High School in Anchorage. Please bring a sack lunch and a water bottle.

August 6 – Fishing Day, Kenai River, Soldotna. Lunch and snacks are provided.  A complimentary round-trip bus ride from Anchorage to Soldotna is included. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the Bass Pro Mountain View location.

What to Bring Fishing

We suggest dressing in layers as early morning can be quite cold on the river, and then warms as the day progresses. Life vests are provided on-shore prior to boarding the boats.

  • Long underwear (preferably polypropylene, not cotton)
  • Warm long sleeve shirt (Fleece pull-over or heavy flannel shirt)
  • Warm jacket
  • Extra socks
  • Rain jacket & rain pants
  • Insulated rubber boots or hiking boots
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Sunglasses
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Snacks
  • Bug Spray
  • Sun Screen

Safety

  • Life jackets are provided and each participant is required to wear one when on the water.
  • Adult chaperones are assigned to each boat.
